Small business owner Brian Preuss and his wife Garima want to open people’s eyes to the importance of air quality, and they are doing just that with Green Home Solutions. They launched Green Home Solutions in 2020, following Brian’s 22 years in the U.S. Army. 

During his time traveling around the world with special operations teams, he saw the immense need brought on by situations like extreme poverty and droughts. After retiring, Brian told himself positive change starts at home, and now was the time to make a difference locally. Through the business, they’re helping customers reduce mold, pet dander, and other allergens that can affect breathing, while also removing odors and disinfecting their homes. They use only plant-based products registered with the Environmental Protection Agency for their safety and effectiveness.

“My wife didn’t want me jumping out of airplanes anymore, and my daughter wanted me around to help with her sports teams. Green Home Solutions is a company that lines up with my values of environmental stewardship,” Brian says.

Cleaner Air Is Healthier Air

Green Home Solutions offers free inspections and assessments. Brian says, “We do this not only because we want to provide our customers with a holistic solution to their individual needs, but also because we want to educate them about the importance of indoor air quality to their health and all of the ways that we can Make Air Better!”

Their services focus on four key areas:

• Indoor air quality testing: Measures impurities in the air and uncovers the causes, such as mold, allergens, poor filtration, humidity, and volatile organic compounds. VOCs can be released from carpets, paint, insulation, and other products.
• Remediation: Creates solutions for removing mold, bacteria, and air pollutants in the home with a holistic approach, considering the right lasting and safe solution for each space (family living area, basement, crawlspace, etc.).
• Disinfection: Treats the air, surfaces, and nooks and crannies (with a fogger) using the proprietary HaloMist™ that kills more than 99.9999% of all viruses and bacteria, including coronavirus and C. difficile spores.
• Odor removal: Uses a fine spray mist solution with fast-acting enzymes that bond to and destroy odor molecules, such as those caused by pets, smoking, and mold.

 

Making a Difference In Their Community

Beyond their family’s passion for healthier homes, they advocate for veterans and those in need. Brian is a Veterans of Foreign Wars member and a board member of the Carroll County Veterans Independence Project, supporting numerous veteran issues, including mental health. He also hires veterans whenever possible. The family also regularly donates fresh produce grown on their hobby farm to local food banks. Brian and Garima look outward in many areas of their lives to contribute to the better health of everyone around them.
