Breathe Easy

Yet, amid the cozy indoors, an unseen factor quietly but critically influences our well-being: indoor air quality. While we may keep a clean home and adorn our living spaces with décor and memories, the very air we inhale could contain pollutants that harm our health. It’s time to let a breath of fresh knowledge sweep in: knowledge about indoor air quality.
Airborne particles, microbes, and pollutants permeate our spaces. These pollutants include mold spores, dust, allergens, particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emanating from common household items. Numerous studies point to risks to our health from these indoor air pollutants: they’re known to trigger allergies and potentially cause respiratory, cardiovascular, or neurological issues. Long-term exposure increases those risks.
There are four steps you can take to mitigate your risks and improve indoor air quality:
1. First, improve the ventilation in your home. Be sure to use your kitchen and bathroom vent fans. Insufficient ventilation can cause a build-up of pollutants and humidity.
2. Second, focus on air filtration, starting with your HVAC system and, optionally, an appropriately sized air filtration unit.
3. Third, monitor and control the humidity level in your home. Mold, allergens, and microbes thrive in high-moisture areas.
4. Fourth, go on the offensive against mold, allergens, and particulates: neutralize whatever impurities make it through your filtration system with proper disinfection, and reset your environment with a probiotic treatment that devours and prevents mold spores, microbes, pollen, pet dander, and other allergens.
A breath of fresh knowledge about indoor air quality can lead to a breath of fresh air and breathing with confidence. These four steps can pave the way for cleaner, healthier indoor air.
